1945 is the year of Indonesia's independence and a major milestone in Indonesia's history to become an independent modern nation. The nation doesn't look back to its past but rather improves continuously and values highly its people's freedom of expression.

1945 restaurant opened its door on August 17th, 2015 with the aim to contribute to the nation's freedom of expression and its rich cultural diversity by re-imagining Indonesian cuisine and elevating it to gourmet status, while still preserving authentic Indonesian taste. They want to be the foundation of a new wave pioneering creativity in developing Indonesian food.

So, in celebration of Indonesia's independence day, they will offer you 17.08% off* for every dine in transaction starting from August 1st, 2016.

Martabak Wagyu

Martabak Wagyu (IDR 140.000), curry flavoured wagyu beef, scrambled duck egg, leeks and onion, served on crispy phyllo pastry with pickles and pomelo salad. This menu wasn't like I imagined, even I didn't think if this was martabak! Just another surprise for myself. *sigh*

Martabak Wagyu

The uniqueness here was the dipping sauce! Can you find it? Haha. So, if you see my previous image, you'll find brown jelly cubes, yeah exactly, it was the dipping sauce! They made it like a jelly, so you can enjoyed it with the martabak.

Pepes Seafood

Pepes Seafood (IDR 250.000), steamed roast of seafood combination, flavoured in sweet basil pesto, wrapped in crispy phyllo pastry. Yeah, called it another Indonesian traditional food which came in modern presentation! Can't you imagine it? *feel amazed*

Pepes Seafood

Honestly, I'm so amazed with all menu creations of 1945 restaurant! They always present the Indonesian traditional menu with a different look with the usual one and without leaving the taste of the food itself. Wow,  I just love their consistency! Anyway, this dish looked so minimalist but had a pack of outstanding flavor. Oh ya, in this dish, they didn't use banana leaf as the outer layer, but they replaced it with phyllo pastry. *thumbs up*

Buntel Rice Burger

Buntel Rice Burger

Buntel Rice Burger (IDR 110.000), such a delicious Indonesian lamb burger served on caramelized seared rice cake, crispy onion and fresh salad. Oh ya, the burger here wasn't entirely like the burger, just its shape that resembles meat burger and this time they used rice cake to replace the bun. IMHO, the taste of this dish was very Indonesian because of the sweet soy sauce.

Sayur Asem Octopus

Sayur Asem Octopus (IDR 95.000), consist of pan seared baby octopus, scallops and prawns, served with shimeji mushroom, local vegetables in sweet and sour broth. Looks so perfect! Now, pour all the hot soup and ready to be enjoyed.

Sayur Asem Octopus

Anyway, this was one of my favorite menu, because it was served with condiments that fits perfectly with the palate of Indonesian who like the strong taste. Perhaps, it was look too 'luxury or wow' for a bowl of sayur asem or a bit funny because you can found scallop or octopus in it, eh? But don't worry, the taste of food was no doubt! :)

Iced Soda Gandul (Longan)

Iced Soda Gandul (IDR 50.000), a layer of homemade syrup topped with ginger soda and compacted iced balls and for now, I chose for longan flavor. Just perfect at the sunny day!

Lychee Fruity Lime Granita (Lychee)

Lychee Fruity Lime Granita (IDR 50.000), a homemade syrup topped with icy lime granita and I chose for lychee flavor as my favorite! The taste was so fresh!

And here's a glimpse of their interior, imho they try manage and create a feeling of exclusive here. This one is the main dining area which comes with fine dining concept and ambiance. And they also have a egg-shaped private room that enough for a capacity of 20 people.
