Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, a name that has become etched in the minds of many Singaporeans since 1969. As a young man, founder Mr. Yeo Eng Song diligently worked as an assistant in a stall selling the traditional Teochew dish, acquiring valuable skills. Equipped with an enterprising spirit and a deep-rooted appreciation for Bak Kut Teh, he subsequently established the original Song Fa Bak Kut Teh at Victoria Street. He also innovated several side dishes to complement the peppery, aromatic soup. Today, this popular yet authentic dish has attained remarkable results, and Song Fa has no doubt earned its prominent place in the local food scene.
With a delicate selection of antique ornaments and old school furniture, diners are invited into a comfortable setting that invokes fond memories in many of the older generations. As customers savour the Bak Kut Teh while basking in the ambience, they're able to appreciate the rich cultural heritage that lies behind this simple dish.
Salted Vegetables (IDR 18.000 / IDR 28.000 / IDR 38.000), this might be one of the typical food that you ordered when Bak Kut Teh was presented. Salted vegetable here was quite tasty and crisp, it's a perfect match for Bak Kut Teh.
Kai Lan (IDR 30.000 / IDR 48.000 / IDR 68.000), just a vegetable that is also known as Chinese broccoli, its flavor is very similar like of broccoli, but slightly more bitter. Common preparations include kai lan stir-fried with ginger and garlic, and boiled or steamed and served with oyster sauce.
|Braised Pig's Intestine|
Braised Pig's Intestine (IDR 30.000 / IDR 45.000), this is one of my favorite, pig intestines! Perhaps many of you who don't like this, but trust me! that this is very good, HAHA!
Pork Tenderloin (IDR 55.000 / IDR 72.000) was so perfect for me, because I'm a pork lover! HAHA. It looks so simple but the meat was smooth and juicy enough. Hmm, anyway I really in love with their broth!
Pork Ribs (IDR 88.000) - just another 'shape' of pork for sure! It was also good and tasty. The difference is due to the ribs (with bone) then a little bit of a hassle to eat this menu.
Overall, this restaurant is quite good, but it's just that you have to be patient if you want to enjoy the food here, because the queue is quite long. Good luck! HAHA.
