Izakaya Issei is the newest Japanese Yakitori and Sake Bar, at Senopati area. It was a fantastic place to enjoy food, great music and escape the bustle of the city. This restaurant really got the hype and quite well-known with their Yakitori. Hmm, don't worry! It was easy to find Izakaya Issei, just next to Cacaote, and it was on the second floor of Apetite Cafe. Or you can see the words 'Izakaya Issei' which big enough on the second floor.

Agedori Negi Sauce

Agedori Negi Sauce, little starter was served! It was deep fried chicken thigh with special sauce and topped with sesame seeds and scallions. Salt and savoury that I've got when taste it and the chicken was soft enough.

Agedashi Tofu

Agedashi Tofu (IDR 27.000), as our starter - deep fried tofu served with dashi based sauce, such a usual with chewy skin but I really love with its broth, quite tasty and smooth.

Issei Chicken

Issei Chicken (IDR 27.000), deep fried chicken with spicy sambal. This chicken looks so tiny but the taste was good, savoury and very pervasive. Surely, one bite wasn't enough! 

Sake Berries ISSEI

Are you brave enough to taste it? Hmm, its taste such a 'cute' drinks! HAHA. Well, it was Sake Berries ISSEI (IDR 125.000) was introduced by Jenny (the owner), it looks so pretty enough and consist of fresh mix berry, vodka, sake and strawberry cream. But it's better drink in cold for sure! 

Wakame Salad

And now, we start with something green but health, let's try their Wakame Salad (IDR 45.000), looks simple as usual salad but this was a seaweed salad served with Issei dressing and Japanese mayonnaise. This fresh salad consist of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, watercress, seaweed and served with their special sauce.

Jacko Salad

Jacko Salad (IDR 36.000), looks similar as previous salad but here was using a lot of seaweed and topped with jacko (Japan tiny fish or very well-known as ikan teri). I really hooked with it, well-seasoning!

Oh ya, I just wanna tell you that Izakaya Issei was participated on EAT JKT, a food festival like no other with more than 100 restaurants in Jakarta participating. Each and every one will showcase specially-priced set menus for 28 days (starting from April 21st,  2014). With selections of IDR 100K, 200K, 300K (all in) set menus, it’s the best time of the year to try as many restaurants as you want at affordable prices. Korokke Potato

Korokke Potato (IDR 27.000), just a simple starter! It was a deep fried mashed potato with mix vegetables, this dish was good enough and because because I'm such a potato lover, so anything made from potatoes was easy and fun for me! Anyway, its texture was soft and really enjoy it before we meet with the main course.

Oh gosh! YAKITORI ATTACK! It looks pale but marinated well, juicy and hmmm....! Okay, I'll tell you from right to left : Gyutan - beef tongue (IDR 18.000), Negima - chicken thigh with spring onion (IDR 12.000), Bonjiri - chicken tail (IDR 16.000), Kimo - chicken liver (IDR 16.000), Kawa - chicken skin (IDR 12.000),  Tsukune - minced chicken (IDR 16.000) and Teba - chicken wing (IDR 12.000).

Belive it or not, this yakitori are so tempting and marinated so well! No words can describe how good it was! Okay, let me explain to you and surely it will make you drool! From right to left : Gyutan, Uzura - quail egg (IDR 12.000), Kawa, Bonjiri, Kimo, Negima. The colour looks more black because it served in tare sauce (sweet).

Butabara and Butabara Negi Miso

Butabara (IDR 25.000), one of the very well known when you enjoy Japanese cuisine, I think it a-must-be ordered! And the right one was Butabara Negi Miso (IDR 27.000), it also pork belly but the difference is this butabara served with miso soup and  topped with spring onion.

Salmon Shio

Salmon Shio (IDR 90.000), grilled salmon which is served with ISSEI dipping sauce and fresh tomatoes. It served like satay with mayonnaise on top.

Teba Tsukune

Teba Tsukune (IDR 25.000), looks like chicken wing in general. But, this isn't like general, oh why? Surprise! Because you'll find minced chicken on it, haha. Chicken in the chicken, you've got double hits from Izakaya Issei!

Butabara Don

Butabara Don, or can be said as pork belly, this was my favourite! Yes, I'm a pork lover, maybe it's time to forget the fat for a while. And what about you? I think, you will also love this food! Pork belly was served with rice, in medium level spiciness. 

Gyutan Don

Gyutan Don (IDR 95.000), as their mainstay menu, I've heard a lot about awesomeness of their Gyutan Don. And on this occasion, although I should tried to taste a bit of spiciness, but to be honest I immediately say "WOW, this is so good!" It so moiiiiisssttt! A-MUST-TO-TRY! 

Tori Soborodon

Tori Soborodon (IDR 62.000), was a bigger category from Izakaya Issei, another rice bowl served with minced chicken donburi topped with nori and egg, all so savoury and fits perfectly with my tongue!

Chicken Teriyaki

Chicken Teriyaki (IDR 39.000), least but not last as our dinner! This juicy chicken served with teriyaki sauce which is quite thick and sprinkled with sesame seeds on top. Then you can see from the photo above, the chicken skin was shiny - so tantalizing your tongue.

Chicken Katsu Curry

Chicken Katsu Curry (IDR 46.000), breaded chicken cutlet served with curry sauce. Their chicken was crunchy enough but the meat inside still soft. Cooked perfectly!

And now, let's having a little alcohol! Firstly, Rhubarb Lemonade (IDR 110.000) was made by mixing orange wedges, fresh lemon juice, jim beam white, sour rhubarb and sprite on top. Freshness level upgraded!

Tokyo Flush Fizz (IDR 125.000), another their signature cocktails and was made from sake, midori, vodka, soda water and lemon wedges. 

Well, Izakaya Issei will be my recommendation place for you to enjoy your lunch or dinner! And of course, I will be back here in another day!

Celebrating the launch of JimBARan Outdoor Lounge at InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza

InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza has brought tropical sophistication to the inner city following the hugely-anticipated launch of its JimBARan Outdoor Lounge. This laid-back venue is the ultimate place to end the day n a high note over social drinks and something to eat in the company if likeminded patrons. It's the perfect spot to meet with friends and work colleagues whilst waiting for the traffic to ease.

Designed by renowned landscape architect St. Legere, JimBARan Outdoor Lounge is a venue with a difference that celebrates the beauty of nature in the middle of the city. Intimate seating arrangements are conducive to small groups looking to have some fun. The lounge is simply the hippesst place to be at the moment.

With its soothing waterways, exotic flora and contemporary seating pods, the lounge is a relaxing open-air environment in the urban heart of Jakarta. This concept caters to local trendsetters, business clientele and the after-five crowd looking for a stylish spot in the Central Business District to unwind and escape the traffic. The lounge also lends itself to private events and special celebrations including weddings and parties. 

Look at the crowd of their grand opening! Many people was so excited with what the chef served. As I know, they also have a signature dishes, such as Seafood Ceviche, Roasted Chili and Garlic Shrimp & Duck and Asian 5 Spice Sausages. Other gourmet delicacies will also be introduced in due course during seasonal ingredients to excite more refined palates.

Anyway, JimBARan Outdoor Lounge serves an extensive tapas menu along with tasty light bites.

The perfect space to savour tasty tapas and creative cocktails in the relaxed ambience of this nature-inspired setting.

Just another sweetness, I found their cheese cake and churros, but sorry I can't take a picture of its churros! But I really loves the churros which is served with melted chocolate and another topping that you can choose as you want! :)

Drinks are prepared by a team of resident mixologist at a smart bar facility. There's a full selection of creative cocktails to choose from as well as boutique wines available by the glass and home-made teas infused with fresh fruit.

It's made from Belvedere Vodka, white rum, dark rum, banana liqueur, Malibu, pineapple, orange, coconut cream, coconut syrup and a squeeze of lime.

This was their favourite cocktails on their launching : Green Envy, Red Revenge and Apple Caramel. They're so good but I prefer on Green Envy, more fresh because they put mint leaves on it!

Oh ya, I just wanna tell you that JimBARan Outdoor Lounge is open daily from 5PM until late every day of the week. The lounge is adjacent to the hotel's main ballroom that also extends into a lush garden setting. Extra standing space is available with a spiral staircase that accesses the main pool and a terrace on the second floor.

Hello! Today I just got a little surprise and also such a sweet-tooth dessert! It comes from Passionnee Bread & Pastry, which located at the heart of South Jakarta, specifically in the residence area of Dharmawangsa, this little neighborhood bakery is here to satisfy your cravings for French bread and pastries. 

Passionnée Bread & Pastry is a bakery specializing in classic French bread and pastries. From Baguette Parisienne, to Tarte Aux Pommes, and Canele - we offer a variety of products that will remind you of Boulangeries and Pattiseries in France. 

At their kitchen, love and passion for food are definitely the main ingredients. That, and the authenticity of French bread and pastries from the touch and skills of our very own French baker.

Tarte Aux Pommes

Tarte Aux Pommes (IDR 40,000/slice - IDR 300,000/tart), this was an apple tart and it becomes my favourite! 

Tarte Aux Pommes

This apple pie looks so good, neither its taste! The crunchiness and softness of its pie, makes you can't stop to eat! And it was better served in cold, for sure. The slices of apple was on top and sprinkled with cinnamons powder. 

Tarte Bourdaloue

Tarte Bourdaloue (IDR 45,000/slice - IDR 350,000/tart), this was a pear tart! Looks more simple but you can taste the sweetness from that pears. Surely, both of this pie tart were put on my top list!

FYI, store it in the refrigerator and you can enjoy it straight out of the fridge or heated in an oven prior to consuming.

Monde Biscuit Indonesia, one of Khong Guan biscuits subsidiary that has been trusted for more than 40 years, today officially launched the Genji Shoppe, a store that sells a variety of creative dessert which is based ​​from Genji Pie to share the love with your loved one.

Some things that you can be found in the inside of Genji Shoppe Pop Up Cafe, some of them was sold!

Monde Biscuit Indonesian see that art is one of the things that are in 'hype' by the younger generation, seen from various exhibitions and art installations that are around us. And now, the theme of Genji Pie was in collaboration with five talented young artists who will share their originality and uniqueness of the work of visual art to inspire young people in pursuing and realizing their interest.

Rukmunal Hakim, Lala Bohang, Ykha Amelz, Kelwin Darwono (General Manager Monde Indonesia), Monic Hapsari, Muhammad Taufiq

And I wanna introduce to you, who is behind the unique and creative murals around Genji Shoppe, here they are :
  1. Rukmunal Hakim : An illustrator with have a focus on black and white drawings and paintings from Bandung and he was born in color blind but don't let go of his love of art.
  2. Lala Bohang : A multitalented architect who quit from her job and start focus on her new profession as an illustrator and writer. And her series of works has exhibited in some exhibitions including ARTE 2014 and her solo exhibition titled "Gendis".
  3. Ykha Amelz : A young illustrator who is very close to music, drawing specialization, website mural design and illustrator - to be top of mind various international brands, musician, magazines, hotel until fashion designer.
  4. Monica Hapsari : An illustrator, painter, visual artist and stylist specialist hand-crafted paintings with the work that has been recognized as a national to international.
  5. Muhammad Taufiq (eMTe) : A young Indonesian artists are self-taught and has worked for more than 10 years, specialized in watercolor technique, he has spread a lot of his illustrations - start from gallery exhibition until the product promo advertising. From a line - drawing (sketch), watercolor painting, to computer illustration, he do all his works in detail and unique. He's totally insane!

Today, I was so lucky to attend the launching of Genji Shoppe at Street Gallery (Pondok Indah Mall 3). And now, I wanna invite you for having food culinary from Genji Shoppe. Let's go!

Magic Cinnamon Pie

Magic Cinnamon Pie (IDR 28.000), was a crispy Genji pastry with assorted spiced fruit. This was quite refreshing, topped with mint leaves and you'll get the cinnamon flavours.

Sweet Sweet Love

Sweet Sweet Love (IDR 35.000), this was a classic one, it will remind your childhood with this heart shape pie! It was balancing with the raspberry tartness, such a sweet and sour pie combination, love to have this at noon!

Ratatouille Goes Berries

Ratatouille Goes Berries (IDR 25.000), a sweet combination dessert, with Genji crust / crumble as its base, then topped with strawberry and blueberry cream cheese. You know what? Everyone love this, especially for the Genji crust. I wish I can bring it home, but can't. 

When Sour Meets Choco

When Sour Meets Choco (IDR 32.000), this was made especially for sweet lovers! Layered of heart-shape Genji pie with chocolate malt enriched with hazelnut, covered with chocolate ganache and served with spring fruit salad. This one also in my favourite list!

This is Not A Martini (IDR 25.000), layered of white and chocolate mousse, a perfect combination to share with your loved one. Dipped your 5 minis original pie inside! Anyway, the texture wasn't really mousse, it looks like a dipping, softer and smooth.

Sleeping Beauty (IDR 25.000), you'll find mini Genji pie inside a moist, a la minute, strawberry pinkish sponge cake. Made fresh when ordered. Looks so catchy and sweet, no words can describe, I'm in love with this! Anyway, it was served with a choice of chocolate and strawberry sauce, choose your favourite one!

A Bag of Loves / A Jar of Hearts

A Bag of Loves / A Jar of Hearts (IDR 20.000 / 100gr), Genji Shoppe also provide a classic-shape-heart pie for you, with chocolate jam inside. Sweety crunch!

Oh ya, one thing that you should remember, Genji Shoppe Pop Up Cafe will be available for the one month only, approximately until May 12th, so you should visit in hurry!
