Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta celebrate its 20th anniversary in March 27th, 2014 at SATOO Garden. and for the whole month, the hotel will offer a wide range of special 20th Anniversary offers and activities for guests to enjoy.

Since 22 March 1994, the first time Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta opened its doors to public, it has retained its place as one of the top hotels in the capital, even in the face of increased competition from other five-star hotels. Throughout the years, the hotel has won countless awards and recognitions, both international and local.

And today, I was met with many people there and also met with fellow bloggers. There was a lot of foods and drinks such as cocktails or cocktails. Life is good with alcohol, isn't it? Hehe. And wanna take around with me to the party? Let's go!

Seen from a distance it looks such an interesting event, especially the decorations were very supportive. The colors are so visible predominantly in green colour  because the theme was Emerald - so almost everything looks green, both lighting and decoration.


The picture above such a opening treat, hehe. The left one was an appetizer with cherry tomatoes and cheese, served in cold. And the right one was a macaron and a glass of champagne for celebrating Shangri-La, and cheers!

The biggest cake from Shangri-La! Happy birthday again and more successful in the future.

 It's time to dance on the water!

Another dessert from Shangri-La : Vanilla ice cream with chocolate mousse and coffee. You'll get the perfect balance between sweet and bitter. Yeah!

This is what we're waiting for! Banana-Lemon Fizzer (cîroc, crème de banana, fresh lemon juice, blue curaçao and soda water) and Satoo Splash (blue curaçao, lychee, mango and soda water). Let's do the party!

The hotel invites guests to look back to the 20 years of Shangri-La hospitality in Jakarta through several activities. Photos of the hotel’s journey since its opening will be displayed at the lobby, showcasing nostalgic moments and occasions from the ground breaking ceremony in 1993 and the first time the hotel officially opened its door in 1994 to old images of how the hotel looked like in the 1990s.

Guests can also share their memorable moments at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta (shortened as SLJ) through the photo contest activity in social media. Carrying the theme of #ShangriLaJKT20th, guests can show their unforgettable times at the hotel and post it on Instagram or Twitter by quoting #ShangriLaJKT20th and @ShangriLaJKT in March. To appreciate those sharing their moments, the hotel will offer weekly and Grand Final prizes.

SAY HELLO to the newest place at Kemang!

FYI, they're still on their soft opening but since the photos from Odie Djamil's, Six Pratama's and HYDE's instagram has made me very curious about this place, in everytime they upload the photos. And exactly, I can't wait any longer!

HYDE is located at Taman Kemang, near to Umbra or Common People and don't worry, they've enough space for parking area. And when you arrived, you'll instantly fall in love with its exterior, looks very  simple and minimalist with using of glass windows around it.

And I just wanna say sorry for all the photos I've took weren't good enough, because this place less lights / dark, since they started opened at 6PM. I wish, I can visit here during the day, so I can enjoy the ambience as their photos.

When you stepped-in, you'll see a large bar with a huge rack of bottles. They will serve you some alcohol drinks, just ask the waiters! :)

This place was quite romantic for dinner, especially for a couple!

And for more private in groups, they're providing a special room-space for you. Really nice, they definitely add an artsy vibe to the place.

Well, you don't need to worry about this place because they has Odie Djamil as their chef consultant. No wonder all the foods that I've tried here almost perfect. Here they are!

Pasta A La Vodka

Pasta A La Vodka (IDR 65.000), just penne served in pink sauce made from grated beets, beef bacon and vodka. It sound so interesting in serving pasta with vodka, but when I tasted for it, I can't feel the vodka at all, but its penne are well-cooked. And for me, this dish wasn't quiet amazing because I can't feel something special from it, but delicious enough to try.

Crackling Pork Belly

Crackling Pork Belly (IDR 125.000), it was honey glazed crispy pork belly served with caramelized roasted apples, carrots and roasting jus. Yeay, it was perfect and be my favourite dish from HYDE! Oh why? Firstly, they used caramelized roasted apple as the side dish (which is usually often found was mashed potatoes). And for the pork belly was also perfect, soft, tasty and juicy! Surely, I'll order this for the next visit. I'm HOOKED at all.

Stuffed Chicken Breast with Mashed Potato and Lemongrass Velouté

Stuffed Chicken Breast with Mashed Potato and Lemongrass Velouté (IDR 89.000), served with side dish selection of potato duchess, french fries or mashed potato and lemongrass velouté. For me, the chicken meat wasn't good enough, it still a lil'bit dry. And one thing that makes me quite surprised was the filling of this pan fried chicken is minced chicken! So the conclusion is there's a chicken in the chicken. What do you think, uh? There's no something special when you ate this dish, no distinct flavor when eaten. Then for the mashed potatoes was good enough, but it still need more seasoning - based on taste. Surely, this dish need more improvement and to be tasted.

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Lava Cake

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Lava Cake (IDR 55.000), another uniqueness from HYDE, wanna know why? This dessert may have been frequently found in a variety of restaurants, but this time it could be quite different from the others, why? Because for its filling they used chocolate and peanut butter sauce. So when you take a slice, directly came out the melted chocolate and peanut butter sauce. Hmm, so perfect combination and idea! And its also serve with vanilla ice cream, peanut crumbles and raspberry jelly (Initially, I expect that it was raspberry ravioli, probably will add the 'beauty' of this dessert if using molecular gastronomy techniques).

Srikaya Butter Honey Bread

Srikaya Butter Honey Bread (IDR 45.000), just toasted butter honey bread and pandan chiffon served with srikaya sauce, chocolate caviar and homemade coconut ice cream.  Every component was really good, especially for the srikaya sauce! And surely, this was a compliment dessert from Chef Odie Djamil, which is one of the famous pastry chef in Indonesia. And of course, he was also a pastry chef at HYDE, so there's no doubt for each dessert here, certainly surprising from his touches.

Chocolate Soil (IDR 45.000), was the last uniqueness from HYDE and yeay, I found molecular gastronomy techniques here! Okay, I'm just a really-big fans of molecular gastronomy, when science meet with foods. Okay, let me tell you, it wasn't a really soil, everything here was edible. The 'soil' was made from chocolate crouton, baileys chocolate mousse, chocolate dirt and garnished with micro herbs. Then when you put the 'soil' on your mouth, it will be instantly transformed into melted chocolate! And for the 'worm' was made from jelly, HAHA! It makes your lips and teeth look dirty when you're eating it, but totally worth it. Lastly, I suggest you to try and enjoy this, then you'll get a new experience! Haha

Another cool place around South Jakarta! I think this place are so popular in nowadays, so I make decision to visit here. And this place was easily to find, really near with KOI Kemang or across Gajetto cafe, but surely this place is quiet awesome! Wanna go inside with me? Here we go . . . !

Stockroom is a concept store that focusses on mens clothing with the assortment of fine selected Indonesian local brands. They want to be the catalyst and the pioneer in the quality escalation movement towards Indonesian local products. Why local brand? So many people think that the local brand was bad (not as a first choice) - because of it, they wanna change the mindset, if it's a local brand isn't inferior to international brands.

As its name stated, Stockroom consist of two : TRADE (store) and DISHES (cafe). There's a good people on a great business, for sure. You wanna know who are they? Let me tell you, there are Jean Tora Thosan, Ahmad Hadiwijaya, Sholahuddin Alrahmani, Ardika Syahputra and Aldo Ferdiansyah. Then they're also have a chef, Ranandya Mayang and their barista, Dwi Andhika who will serve some good foods and drinks to you! :)

As a complementing element to the store, there’s also a place to eat and chill, called Stockroom Dishes with cozy atmosphere.

As I've ever heard, Stockroom has a popular milkshake! Yeay, so we try to order Froot Loops Milkshake (IDR 45.000), just a simple beverage, rich of milk with smooth texture then topped with Froot Loops! Give a try to yourself and it will your day more colourful. And for the right one, Ice Tea (IDR 18.000) I just have nothing to comment with this, just an usual tea.

Cafe Latte (IDR 28.000), I really had a big hope with this cafe latte, but idk why there's no latte art at all. And in my opinion, their coffee was bad enough and they should take improvement for it, or maybe they should hire a barista to make this cafe more better. Because this cafe was good enough for having coffee and relax, but I didn't enjoy with its coffee.

Roast Chicken (IDR 68.000) was marinated well with salt, pepper, rosemary as the herbs and grilled baby potatoes. The chicken meat was juicy and tender, also permeated with a good marinade. And the baby potatoes was good and salty. For sure, it will became one of your favourites, trust me! I'm hooked.

Fish and Chips (IDR 78.000) was a buttermilk battered dory fish served with fries and homemade tartar sauce. This is one of the best fish and chips in town! It was fried well, not too oily and I really loves with its skin, nice texture and feels glaze. And also served with french fries topped with herbs and tartar sauce. Recommended!

After having some meals, you can go upstairs to enjoy with some local products and brands. Surely, this trade was focus for men only, such as shoes, bags, t-shirt, cap, wallet, leather accessories, etc. I'm so happy to be here, like wanna grab all that stuff *if I were a man*! Haha

You also can find another local brands, such as Zevin, Pop Meets Pop, Elhaus, Havehad, Voyej, Esre, Sagara, Monkeycatfish, etc. As I talked with Jean, he said that "Stockroom wished to become a trigger of a movement which could support the local brands and showing to other people that local brands are surely able to compete with international brands." And surely, I'm agree with Jean!

HELLO again to all my readers and I just wanna say "Welcome to the lovely month!" Surely, this month will fun and full of love, especially on the Valentine's Day. And what will you do on that day? Nothing to do? Don't worry, I'll suggest to you this sweetest place, ELICXIR Artisan Gelato. In here, you'll get some sweet-tooth for completing your sweetness day.


Before I give you the surprise of the newest menu from Elicxir, I wanna introduce the two people above, they're Jenifer Patricia and Jansen Karyadi, as the owner of ELICXIR Artisan Gelato. And on this occasion, I could immediately taste the gelato which is made ​by Jansen, so perfectly yummy!

Do you feel 'strange' with this gelato menu's name? Maybe so, why? Because this gelato was made from a mix of bananas and specula as biscuits. And can you imagine what it feels like? I think this is really good, I love the taste of this. The sweet and smoothness gelato are combined with speculaas biscuits, where you can feel the taste of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, etc.

And this was ELICXIR's favourite menu for this month! It was a mix of smooth gelato with marie biscuit, who doesn't know marie biscuits? I think all of you are very well-known about it, which is have very distinctive aroma , so you can guess without having seen it. Surely, I love this too! 

The Special Flavor for this month : LOVE ON TOP (IDR 60.000), was made of red rum and strawberry milk gelato with cream cheese foam and love velvet cookies on top. The taste was quite good enough, not too sweet, the taste like bubblegum hehe. But remember, spread your love and eat this quickly because it was melted easily. (Available only until March 14th, 2014).

The Seasonal Flavour :  TOAST MY JAM (IDR 45.000), was made of french toast gelato with a shot of srikaya jam. Its taste was really unique, you can feel the texture and taste of french toast in the gelato. I'm hooked with this! (Available only until March 14th, 2014).

Another-newest-creation from Elicxir Artisan Gelato, now they're serving Eclair and Choux, as your light-sweet bites! For now, they're available in two flavours : Milo Dinosaurs and Banana Nutella. And because I'm such a fan of nutella, I vote for it!
